"Coldplay - Violet Hill"
Was a long and dark December
From the rooftops i remember
There was snow
White snow
Clearly I remember
From the windows they were watching
While we froze down below
When the future's architectured
By a carnival of idiots on show
You'd better lie low
If you love me
Won't you let me know?
Was a long and dark December
When the banks became cathedrals
And the fox
Became God
Priests clutched onto bibles
Hollowed out to fit their rifles
And the cross was held aloft
Bury me in armor
When I'm dead and hit the ground
My nerves are poles that unfroze
If you love me
Won't you let me know?
(Guitar Solo)
I don't want to be a soldier
That a captain of some sinking ship
Would stow, far below
So if you love me
Why'd you let me go?
I took my love down to violet hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
Said, if you love me
Won't you let me know?
If you love me,
Won't you let me know?

"Coldplay - Viva La Vida"
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to rule
I used to roll the dice
Feel the feeling in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead. Long live the king."
One minute I held the key
Next the worlds were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear terrorist and the bells are ringing
Roman can't be quiet, she said it
Females nearing my soul can see her
A missionary's in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go it was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
It was a wicket of wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh, who would ever want to be king?
I hear terrorist and the bells are ringing
Roman can't be quiet, she said it
Females nearing my soul can see her
A missionary's in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter will call my name
And around this word
But that was when I ruled the world
I hear terrorist and the bells are ringing
Roman can't be quiet, she said it
Females nearing my soul can see her
A missionary's in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter will call my name
And around this word
But that was when I ruled the world

MY FAVOURITE BAND - RADIOHEAD

Radiohead are an English indie/alternative rock band from Oxfordshire. The band is composed of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, electronics), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, other instruments), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar, synthesisers) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion). Since 1993, Radiohead have released seven albums by 2007

Radiohead released their first single, "Creep", in 1992. Their debut album, Pablo Honey, followed in 1993. "Creep" was initially unsuccessful, but the song became a worldwide hit when reissued a year later, and the band were almost branded as one hit wonders. Radiohead's popularity in the United Kingdom increased with the release of their second album, The Bends (1995). The band's textured guitar atmospheres and Yorke's falsetto singing were warmly received by critics and fans. Radiohead's third album, OK Computer (1997), propelled the band to greater fame worldwide. Featuring an expansive sound and themes of alienation from the modern world, OK Computer has often been acclaimed as a landmark record of the 1990s.

The release of Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) saw Radiohead reach the peak of their popularity, although the albums divided critical opinion. This period marked a change in Radiohead's musical style, with their incorporation of avant-garde electronic music, Krautrock and jazz influences. Hail to the Thief (2003), which mixed guitar-driven rock with electronics and contemporary lyrics, was the band's final album for their record label, EMI. Radiohead's seventh album, In Rainbows (2007), was first released independently as a digital download for which customers selected their own price, later meeting with critical and chart success. The album was later nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize.

INTERPOL - C'MERE
Interpol is an American indie/alternative rock band formed in 1997 in New York City. The band's line-up is Paul Banks (vocals, guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar, vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass guitar, keyboards - commonly referred to as Carlos D) and Sam Fogarino (drums, percussion).

Interpol's debut album Turn on the Bright Lights (2002) was critically acclaimed, making it into the NME top ten albums of the year. Its follow-up, Antics (2004) and Our Love to Admire (2007) have confirmed their initial success and turn the band into both a commercial and critical success with a devoted fan base. Interpol is one of the bands associated with the New York indie music scene, being one of several groups that emerged out of the post-punk revival of the 2000s. The band's sound is generally a mix of bass throb and choppy, sparse guitar, with a snare heavy mix, drawing comparisons to post-punk bands such as Joy Division and The Chameleons.

THE BANDS

Here are some of the famous INDIE bands and a bit introduction of the bands.

COLDPLAY - An Indie band formed in London, England in 1997. The group comprises vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Coldplay have sold 33.9 million albums, and are also known for their hit singles, such as "Yellow", "The Scientist", "Speed of Sound", "Fix You", "Viva la Vida" and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks".

SNOW PATROL - Originally formed in late 1994 as "Shrug" by students Gary Lightbody and Mark McClelland at the University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland, the band started by performing gigs at the university and surrounding pubs before changing their name to Polar Bear (or Polarbear) in late 1995. In the early days, the band used to pretend to be members of the Scottish band Belle & Sebastian in order to gain free entry to the Student Union club at the Glasgow School of Art. In mid 1997, they renamed to Snow Patrol, and released a three-track EP, Starfighter Pilot, on the Electric Honey label. Richard Colburn, from Belle & Sebastian, played drums on this record, and Stuart Murdoch, from the same band, sang on one of the B-sides. They are based in Glasgow and are signed to Polydor Records. Originally formed as an indie rock band, Snow Patrol have sought a more alternative rock and powerpop sound in recent years on the heels of mainstream success with the songs "Run", "Chasing Cars" and "Signal Fire" from the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack.

Welcome To My Blog

WELCOME..
WELCOME..
and pleasure of welcome to this humble and simple blog of mine. Here, i will share a little about this one music element called INDIE music. Basically, INDIE music came from the words independent which refer to underground base bands and stand alone bands which create their own music with their own idealism and sentiment of music. In late 50's to 60's, the scene of INDIE music began when the big labels started to monopolize everything that they believed could make money. Elvis’ generation got a bit of a free ride which the music was so new, and the energy so unexpectedly that those in power had no idea how to tame it. Bands played on the radio and the records sold in stores all had a common theme, if not a duplicate sound. In fact, the history of indie music, however much fans want to deny it, is shaped by popular music as much as the shape of popular music is changed by indie artists. Typically, there have been three music “formats” that you can find on the radio, although the formats may change, there will always only be three kinds of music. In the 1960s, the big format was pop, a little bit of R&B, and rock ala the Rolling Stones. Therefore, when it came to new format of music such as Elvis and The Beatles, they named it as INDIE music. Here, they mixed up their music with such a good lyrics and idealism such as Peace, Anti-war and love. If the early ’90s was a catastrophe for the indie scene, the new millennium has been a huge success. It seems as though the big labels have poached every genre they possibly can, that bands are rejecting them en masse, and that the Internet has provided a way to get the music out to fans that has never before been attempted. The result is accessible, quality music in almost every conceivable drama. In this atmosphere, it has become impossible to identify music by its sound, or even by its sales. Best selling albums such as those put out by The Postal Service or Panic! At the Disco illustrate the new reality that is the indie music scene. Both bands are in fact pretty experimental in nature, with the Postal Service focus on electronica and Panic’s eclectic sound of every conceivable musical sound. There are still elements of soul, rock, and mellow listening to be found on the indie scene, and many bands popular through the ’90s (such as Collective Soul and Candlebox) are now on their own labels or established indie labels. So, till now, there are many INDIE bands did a very good music especially in INDIE platform such as Snow Patrol, The Postal Service, Arctic Monkeys, Paramore, God is an Astronout, Coldplay and many more. In Malaysia also, INDIE music became a very popular choice among teenagers. Butterfingers for example, played the INDIE music element into such a great phase in Malaysia's music industry. There are some other newcomers and bands in INDIE scene such as Hujan, Meet Uncle Hussein, Disagree, Oh Chentaku, Hijau, Plague of Happiness and many more. There are also several of INDIE bands from Indonesia which started to get Malaysian attention such as The Upstairs, Kertas, J-Rocks and many more.
